Who else is on the Dry January seat? I hear most folks quit by day seven. Well, I’m still here. Going strong, I think.

May and I almost broke our booze fast last weekend.

But I’ve got three tips a friend who’s more experienced at booze fasts shared with me to help us power through. They are:

1. Hide your bottles

Stash away any bottles left over from the holiday season. I have thought of sending my wine bottles to my cousin’s house. She doesn’t drink, so it’s safe there.

2. Drink loads of tea

Think of it as your replacement. You can also add electrolytes to your water and nurse your flask all day.

3. Eat well

Alcohol is a source of calories and sugar. When you cut it out, you need to replace it, or you’ll get cravings. And end up bingeing on junk food. So, make sure to eat nutritious meals and snacks.

And remember, if you decide to start drinking on February 1st, take it easy and don’t go on a binge. Your body needs some adjusting to alcohol again.
